LGBTQI+ migrants who have fled their home countries to arrive in Europe, suffer the difficulties of adapting to a foreign country. They are confronted with an LGBTQI+-phobic environment in the asylum centres, as well as the pressures of loneliness and isolation.

BALIR is an association supporting LGBTQI+ migrants living in Belgium.

The main goal of the association is making a network of LGBTQI+ migrants in Belgium, promoting solidarity and helping them confront difficulties and discrimination, as well as improving their quality of life. Specifically, we support our members - mostly international protection seekers and refugees - in their asylum procedure and integration into Belgium society.
