DAE LGBTQ+ Community
The DAE (Howest Digital Arts & Entertainment) LGBTQ+ Community is a student-led group, officially formed in 2020, that provides a safe environment for queer people within the school. The group provides resources (both educational and support-based), organizes events and activities for like-minded people to connect and feel welcome – with the overarching goal to raise awareness and foster inclusivity within our school. The main incentive behind this organization is to create a community space in which young, queer individuals feel they can be themselves and explore their own identities further.
We organize three large group campfires yearly; we also organize an annual pride month activity in which students/community members are able to submit pride button/pin designs with a focus on creativity and inclusivity within our institution. These pins are printed by our student leaders and are distributed amongst the students for wear during pride month (and beyond!).
